Lake Chatuge Mini Sessions 2026 | Family & Senior Photographer in Hayesville, NC
Coming to Lake Chatuge — Fall Family and Senior Photos!
For years, my camera has lived between Atlanta family portraits and North Georgia and Western North Carolina real estate listings — but the mountains have always pulled at me. This September, I'm finally bringing mini sessions to Lake Chatuge, and I could not be more excited to meet the families, couples, and seniors of Hiawassee, Young Harris, Blairsville, Hayesville, and Franklin.
If you've followed my work around Atlanta at K Boyer Photography, you know I care about the same things up here that I do down there: real light, real connection, and images that actually look like your family instead of a stiff pose in front of a backdrop. I'm not parachuting in as a stranger with a camera — I've spent enough time on this lake to know where the light falls best in the evening, and I can't wait to show you.

Where We'll Be Shooting
Fires Creek — Sunday, September 27th, 4–6 p.m. This is where it all begins. Fires Creek has this quiet, tucked-away creek-and-forest feel that photographs beautifully in early fall — dappled light through the trees, a little bit of water and an incredible waterfall in the frame, that "we found a secret spot in the mountains" feeling. It's an intimate location, which makes it perfect for couples and smaller families. Flat space with option of crawling on rocks, crossing bridges and walking along paths.
Bell Mountain (Senior Sunset Sessions) — Sunday, October 4th, 5:40–7 p.m. If you're a senior who wants that golden-hour, editorial look — the kind of photo you frame and the kind you post — Bell Mountain's sunset views over the lake are hard to beat. We time this session specifically around the light, so it's a shorter window, but it's the one people request again the following year.
Windsong Willows — Saturday, October 24th, 8–10 a.m. Soft morning light, open fields, and a relaxed, unhurried feel. This is a great fit for families with young kids who do better earlier in the day, or seniors who want a more natural, candid set of images.
Hamilton Gardens — Saturday, October 31st, 9–11 a.m. A polished, garden-style backdrop with layered color and texture — ideal if you want portraits that feel a little more classic and formal without losing warmth.
A Little “Founding-Family” Perk
Since September 27th at Fires Creek is my very first mini session date in this area, I want to celebrate it with a few families willing to be part of that debut. Book that date and I'll include a additional 10 minutes of shooting so you will receive a 30 minute session instead of 20 minutes!! It is my thank-you for helping me kick off Lake Chatuge sessions with you.
What to Expect
Mini sessions are 20 minutes and family sessions are 45-60 minutes.
All sessions include all professionally edited digital images delivered within 5 business days.
If there is rain forecasted, we will reschedule to another date.
Need outfit inspiration? Check out my What to Wear Guide here. Dress in coordinating colors and textures rather than matching outfits exactly, and wear something you feel like yourself in — that's what makes the photos feel like you.
Pricing starts at $275 for a mini session (seniors or family) and a regular family session is $395. You can click the links above to reserve your slot.
Let's Get You on the Schedule
Spots for each date are limited so shoot me an email or book online if you are interested!. If you'd like to see more of my portrait and family work before booking, browse the full portfolio here — and if you've got a group of friends who'd want to split a date, send me a message and we'll find a time that works.
I have fallen in love withe these mountains over the last 10 years as we have vacationed up here from Atlanta and now I get to photograph the families who love them too. See you at the lake.
