Your Mountain Fall Getaway: Where to Stay, Eat & Play at Lake Chatuge
Your Fall Getaway in the Mountains Starts Here
There's a particular kind of magic that happens up here once August turns the corner toward fall — cooler mornings, golden light on the ridgeline, and just enough crispness in the air to make you crave a fireplace and a good meal. If you've been thinking about a mountain escape, now's the time to start planning.
I've put together a full guide to things to do in the area — hikes, overlooks, local shops, and more — on my See and Do Page around Lake Chatuge. But today I want to zoom in on one of my amazing Social Media Retainer Clients about how to spend a perfect fall weekend right here at The Ridges Resort and its sister properties.
Stay at The Ridges Resort
The Ridges is the kind of place that makes you slow down the second you arrive. Lake views, mountain air, and a home base close to everything worth doing in the area — it's where I'd start (and end) a fall trip. Whether you're booking a room for a weekend or a longer stay, it's the anchor for everything else on this list.
Dinner and a Show at The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen
If you're up here in August, don't miss this one. Step into a night of timeless elegance at The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen — savor an array of chef-crafted favorites, then sit back as Keenen Carter fills the room with smooth vocals and classic charm, channeling the legendary sounds of Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Elvis, and more. Doors and bar open at 6 PM — arrive early, sip a handcrafted cocktail, and let the music transport you. 🥂
Friday, August 21 6:00 PM – Bar & Buffet open 7:00 PM – Keenen Carter takes the stage
Get on the Water with Freedom Boat Club
Fall on the lake is criminally underrated. The crowds thin out, the light gets better for photos, and the water is still warm enough to enjoy. Freedom Boat Club makes it easy — no boat ownership required, just show up and go. It's one of my favorite ways to see the ridgeline from a completely different angle.
Play and Eat at Marina Station
Marina Station is an easy stop for a little of everything — cool off at the water park, then grab a casual bite at Marina Station's dockside restaurant afterward followed byan hour playing Top Golf (over 40 golf courses and a variety of simulator games!!). It's a laid-back way to spend an afternoon, especially with the family, before heading back to the resort for the evening. If you are local to Lake Chatuge, you can boat right up to Marina Station for a great meal, team trivia, or Top Golf!
Start your morning at Sips Coffee Shop
Before a day on the water or a hike with a view, swing by Sips for coffee and something local before you head out.
Does your business need social media content?
If you've seen drone shots, video reels, or photos of The Ridges Resort, Sips Coffee Shop, The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen, Marina Station, Top Golf or the or Freedom Boat Club floating around social media — that's me. I work with The Ridges on a monthly retainer, creating fresh drone footage, still photos, and video content across all of their properties.
I offer this same service to other small businesses and real estate agents who want consistent, professional social media content without the hassle of doing it themselves. If that's something you're interested in, let's talk — reach out anytime.
Plan Your Trip
Stay at The Ridges, spend an afternoon on the lake with Freedom Boat Club, grab your morning coffee at Sips, and close the weekend with dinner and live music at The Oaks. For everything else worth doing while you're here, check out my See and Do Page.
See you up in the mountains.
